I build this myself Try the 14 day trial

25 December

Merry christmas to one and all. I have been in hospital for 6 weeks and getting over the operation has taken longer than I thought so. Im sorry for not updating this site sooner.

I have produced a compilation Cd for the Ennis Trad Festival why not check it out and have a listen. Ennis Trad Festival Cd

I have been playing in France. Germany and Italy since I was last on.

There are lots of pipers around and lots of music. My brother Eamon is in Boston playing and the other brother Terry is in Amsterdam so we are really spreading the music. I had a great few tunes at the Mrs Crotty concertina weekend in Kilrush Co.Clare the other day with Tim Collins, Kieran Hanrahan, Edel Fox, John Rynne and a few others . Its a pity the summer has to finnish and with it all the great festivals.

Fleadh Nua in Ennis this weekend. Lot of sessions and concerts all over the town hopefully I will meet a few pipers.

I’m off to the kinvara festival to play a gig with John Rynne and Grayam Dunne this weekend. It’s bank holiday over here so lots of music.

The piping tutorweb site uilleannpipestutor.com is two weeks open and 36 pipers from all over the world are now members and boy do you practice!! In 7 hours (while I was sleeping) 119 times you came to this site to practice. It’s really great to know you are getting some use out of it. I am toying with putting it all on a cd and booklet so you won’t be in front of a computer all the time.

25/04/05 - 23.30 GMT

Uilleannpipestutor.com is going great guns 25 members in one week and great fedback from them such as -

From the USA "I have learnt more in three days than I did in the last year"

From Denmark "I was just browsing the site, and I'm absolutely stunned. This is great stuff indeed!

21/04/05 - 23.39 GMT

I have opened the new tutor website up and I am closing the tutorial page down now. The tutorial link will now lead to uilleannpipestutor.com

19/04/05 - 09.00

I have put some tunes into my new Piping Tutorial website if anyone wishes

to try them before the site is fully loaded. uilleannpipestutor.com

15/04/05 - 21.45 GMT

Its up HAVE FUN.  Rolling in the rye grass.

I have just finished the second part on Rolling in the rye grass It is in the tutorial section.

14/04/05 - 8.20 GMT

The link is up on the right hand side under TUTORIAL . Its the first half of the tune. I did a private wabcam lesson to America today .It worked very well even though the student did not have a webcam he had a microphone . He could see & hear me and I could hear him . It went really well . If anyone else wants to try it remember the first two lessons are free!

As promised I have put the first half of Rolling in the Rye Grass tutorial together

12/04/05 - 21.45 GMT

I have been looking around other sites on the web for feedback on this site .It all seems to be very positive. Many people talk about the tune "Rolling in the rye grass" which I play on my cd. I play the first part of Rolling In the Rye Grass reel mostly as Andy Taught me. Therenfore tomorrow I will teach it to you through an audio recording I will put up. I will go through it slowly and explain it so you can get a feel for it then I will play it at full pace. It will eat up an awfull amount of the megabites that I have to pay for, but I think its the correct thing to do .You should tape or record it so you can study it off line. I will put a link on this page when it is ready

It's not all positive. One complaint is that the site took a while to load. The problem was I had a lot of photo's on the home page when I started out. Also you really need to be on broadband to get music to play instantly and site to load fast maybe you have broadband and still have problems. Let me know, the problem might be this end still.I use the latest Macromedia flash so update yours for free and see if it helps or maybe I'm trying to fit to much in.

Please let me know what you think of the site. It saves me hunting the net for feedback.

Just got an e-mail from someone in USA to try the piping lessons over the net by web cam. So when it is set up and working properly I will let you know.

12/04/05 - 21.45 GMT

I have put another page in Andy Conroy section. Its for e-mails and news I am recieving through the site with more history on Andy. Andy's niece Mary (his brother Mick's daughter) rang me and thanked me for the site and said the family were delighted so many people remember Andy. I.ve been thinking about an Andy Conroy Tionol for a long time. Maybe I should think a bit harder about it

11/04/05 - 22.00 hours GMT. I have put a page up about the band Providence and the launch of their third album last night in Ennis. Follow providence link on the right. Had some E-mails about Andy Conroy and will be updating the pages. Also more info arrived on Liverpool Ceili band.

If anyone has info on their American tour in the mid 1960's I'd love to hear from you.

Tarquin Fartesque the ace BBC reporter has another archive interview nearly ready in "What Pipers Think" section.I got more Co.Clare cd's to add to selection have a look around.

11/04/05/ -- 01.55 am -- Just back from the Providence launch of third cd.

Great night, lot's of heads at it. Im hitting the bed now but I will give you the rundown on the night tomorrow. Another Great Night of Music in County Clare! Mick.

10/04/05

Well tonight is a big night for music in Ennis. The band Providence are launching their cd . These occasions are a bit like the Oscars, but in Ennis. Every Clare musician will turn up to support the band. I'll keep a look out for cds and tapes that are not in normal distribution and i'll get some photo's. I,ll have the cd up on the site in a day or two so you can hear some of it . I wiil also be doing a great cd promotion so log in again soon.

09/04/05

If you have a web-cam and would like to have one 2 one lessons on the web I am prepared to give the first 2 half hour lessons free so you can see if you are happy with things. I set up my end yesterday it is very easy to do and is free to install. If you already use a Web-Cam what are you waiting for, take your freelesson. I can also do a web link for Tional's.

I will also be able to send you files and you can listen to what I am playing on my computer. Therefore I can make special cd's for you and others will not be able to hear it. I will use the same teaching methods I use in Limerick University BA & MA courses in Irish Traditional Music where I teach one 2 one piping . You do not need to have notation skills and all standards are catered for. Anyone who has been to one of my Performance Classes at the Willie Clancy summer school will know the way I teach.  E-Mail me if you are interested.

There has been a great improvement in the hits to this site since I put the

Andy Conroy page up and asked Pat at UilleannObsession.com  to put the word out. I had over 700 hits in one evening, I never knew that their were so many pipers with computers.

There are also pages onThe Liverpool Ceili Band ,the band my father Eamon Coyne played with all his life and the band I played with from 1970 until I moved back to Ireland in 1975 and a page on  Eamon Coyne himself.

The Coyne Brothers page is a place to find out just what it was like growing up immersed in a traditional music family.

I am trying to get a collection of cd's of Co.Clare musicians music and song

that are not available in shops or on Amazon. The collection will be mostly people I know or have played with. I'm also trying to do a deal with a company who have some very rare collections of music on their catalogue including Northumbrian and Scotish products.

Why not Learn a Song and become a member of the Singing Pipers Society. Emulate Willie Clancy, Seamus Ennis, Finbar Furey etc. Pipers used to to give a blast of a song at one time, lets start the trend again.

I've just had dropped into me, Dick Hogans cd The Wonders of the World and Cyril O'Donoghue's cd Nothing but a child. Cyril is playing with Sioban Peoples and Murt Ryan tonight in Cruises Ennis I,ll have their cd up soon . Then he plays on Sunday in Ennis at the launch of the Povidence cd which I will have tomorrow.

Listen to tracks from Tim Collins Cd the wonderful concertina player or Eamon Cotter from kilmaley Co.Clare playing Flute.
